Something Borrowed, Something New
A World of Bridal Attire

Wedding Ensemble, Bethlehem, Palestine

An exhibition designed to please the young and old alike, the romantic, the adventurous, and the academic, Something Borrowed, Something New features wedding ensembles from thirty cultures on five different continents.  While in America the white wedding dress has been the traditional standard, wedding attire in other cultures is characterized by rich colors, elaborate accessories and head dresses, and the application of intricate make-up.

This exhibition captures the vibrancy and diversity of wedding celebrations around the globe, representing cultures from India, Guatemala, Nigeria, Bhutan, Syria, Japan, and many more.  Life-size photo-murals will provide context for the traditional garments on display.
